Biscuits and Gravy

Hush Puppies

Hush puppies are a classic Southern American side dish made from a mixture of cornmeal, flour, eggs, milk, and seasonings that are shaped into small balls or oblong shapes and deep-fried until golden brown. The name “hush puppies” is said to have originated from the practice of throwing the fried cornmeal balls to the hounds to keep them quiet during a hunt.
