Unsolved Missing: Morgan Nick

Morgan Nick is an American girl who was kidnapped at a Little League Baseball Game. She was six years old at the time of her disappearing. She disappeared on the 9th of June 1995 from a parking lot in Alma, Arkansas. Morgan is still missing nearly 27 years and has never been found. This is Unsolved Missing: Morgan Nick.

Morgan was last seen emptying her shoes near her mother’s car on the 9th of June 1995. Investigators have said that two friends had seen a suspicious man in a red truck with a white camper that night. She disappeared at 10:45pm and the red pick up disappeared around the same time. The man who was said to be driving the red pick up was estimated to be around the age of mid twenties. No arrests have ever occurred and the family is still looking for answers.

Attempted Abductions

On the 9th of June 1995, an attempted abduction of a four year old is reported in Alma. The attempted abduction stopped when the little girl screamed and was saved by her mother. The suspect resembled the same man who abducted Morgan.
Another attempted abduction occurred on the 10th of June 1995. A nine year old girl is the victim in this attempted abduction which happened in Fort Smith. The girl reported the suspect that resembled the same guy who abducted Morgan. He tried to get her to go into a men’s restroom with him, but she resisted.

Descriptions

The pickup is a Ford Brand and the camper is possibly damaged at the right rear end. It was also described as four to give inches to small for the truck which has a small wheel base and paint dulled by age. The truck is also believed to have Arkansas License Plates. The man was described as six foot tall, white with a solid build, a mustache and a one inch beard.

When Morgan went missing she was around four foot tall, about fifty-five pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. She had 5 visible silver caps on her molars. She was last seen wearing a green Girl Scout t-shirt, blue denim shorts and white tennis shoes.

Aftermath Timeline

In 1996, Morgan Nick’s Mother, Colleen Nick, launched The Morgan Nick Foundation. The foundation itself focuses on intervention, education and legislation. Along with the launch of the foundation, the Arkansas alert system is named in honor of Morgan.
On the 9th June 1996, a pink balloon release is hosted in honor of Morgan on her first year anniversary.
The police release a new composite sketch of subject involved in the case on the 4th of January 2001.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children releases an age progression picture of Morgan who would be 12 years old in February 2001.

The case airs on Unsolved Mysteries on the 28th of August 2001.
The Arkansas State Police revamps the notification system for abducted and missing children to speed notification alerts on the 9th of January 2009.
Investigators and the police search a residence on Northwest Ninth Street in Spiro, Oklahoma on the 16th of November 2010. This residence will be the same residence which will be searched again seven years later.
In August 2010, Nancy Grace reports that the Morgan Nick Case is a cold case. On the same month (24th) ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and John Walsh (co-founder of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children) teamed up to focus on the issue of missing children and also highlighted Morgan’s abduction. Morgan’s Mum and Morgan’s Siblings were the recipients of the house.

The following year on the 23 of June, Tonya Smith (24) was arrested for allegedly trying to steal the identity of Morgan Nick. She tried to purchase vital documents and information belonging to Nick, including her birth cert.
Nothing happens for a few years until the 18th of December 2017. The FBI in Oklahoma State of Bureau and local authorities, were dispatched to the scene of a possible crime in Spiro after receiving a tip. Police searched the well and backyard of the residence for nearly 10 hours. The following day no evidence was found.

A Suspect

In November 2021, the FBI posted an article looking for information on a guy called Billy Jack Links. He was born and raised in Crawford County, Arkansas. Links served with the US Army during World War II and then worked at Braniff Airlines in Dallas, Texas from 1962 to 1974. He then returned to Van Buren, Arkansas in the late 1970s.
Two months after Morgan’s dissappearance, Links attempted to abduct a young girl in Van Buren at a area 8 miles from where she was abducted. He died in prison in 2000.
The FBI is requesting help from anyone who knew him whether it was through school, work chruch or any other activity. They need information about him and his entire life.
