Then move on to exterior spring cleaning, where you’ll find advice on addressing exterior maintenance and repairs. Finally, use our room-by-room cleaning tips to help you declutter and organize each area of your home.

Why is Spring Cleaning Important?

Although many of us have established some form of a routine cleaning schedule, it is rare that we find the time or motivation to undertake a deep cleaning of our living space.

However, as time goes by, dust, mold, mildew, and other forms of dirt accumulate in the areas that are not regularly and thoroughly cleaned. Spring provides a natural opportunity to address these deep cleaning tasks after a long winter, and it is the ideal time to reset and refresh the entire house.

How Do I Start Spring Cleaning?

While the prospect of tackling spring cleaning may seem overwhelming, it is a task that should not be avoided. With some initial preparation, you can get started and complete the job with ease.

  • Invest in cleaning products that you enjoy using. Consider selecting cleaners with pleasant scents or attractive packaging. When you take pleasure in the small things, you will be more motivated to complete the cleaning task.
  • Suppose you plan to have your carpets cleaned or your exterior windows washed. In that case, it is advisable to schedule these appointments well ahead of time before you commence the rest of your spring cleaning.
  • Opt for lively and upbeat music when creating your spring cleaning playlist to keep you motivated and energized throughout the process. Crank up the volume and let the music keep you going.

Mistakes To Avoid

Naturally, you want to achieve a thorough and effective spring cleaning that will leave your home feeling renewed. To ensure success, utilize the helpful tips provided in this article.

Furthermore, avoid making common spring cleaning mistakes such as:

  • Avoid wasting time by flitting from one task to another without completing anything. Instead, create a plan outlining which areas you will tackle and when. Use the spring cleaning checklist as a guide to help you navigate through the cleaning process efficiently.
  • Don’t neglect hard-to-clean spaces during your spring cleaning. This task is not the same as your routine weekly cleaning or the quick tidying up before guests arrive. Spring cleaning is an opportunity to thoroughly clean all those overlooked nooks and crannies. Take the time to get into every corner and crevice and give them a deep and thorough cleaning.
  • Remember, it is crucial not to rush through the cleaning process and settle for a quick surface clean. Allow the cleaners to sit and penetrate the dirt and grime, following the package directions for optimal results. Take your time, follow the instructions carefully, and do the job correctly. I promise you will be pleased with the outcome!

Spring Cleaning Tips For You

Clean in Order

When cleaning a room or space, it is essential to work from the top down to avoid recontaminating areas that have already been cleaned. Start by dusting surfaces before vacuuming or sweeping the floor. Clean upper cupboards and shelves before moving on to lower ones. By following this method, you can ensure that all areas are thoroughly cleaned, and no surface is left untouched.

Choose The Right Duster

In my opinion, the Swiffer is the most user-friendly duster available. The reason I prefer it is that it effectively collects dirt rather than simply pushing it around. Although a dry microfiber cloth can also be used, I find the Swiffer much easier to use, particularly when maneuvering around delicate decor and other items.

Your Skin

Consider wearing rubber gloves while cleaning to protect your skin from exposure to chemicals and excess water. As we age, our skin tends to become drier, and prolonged exposure to cleaning products and water can exacerbate this issue. Even if you use natural cleaners, water alone can still cause dryness. Therefore, wearing rubber gloves while cleaning can help prevent dry and irritated skin.

Dance

As mentioned previously, music can be an excellent motivator when it comes to cleaning. To get yourself in the mood for cleaning, consider putting on some upbeat music that gets you moving. It’s much more enjoyable to clean when you’re grooving to your favorite tunes!
