I’m covering a new topic today on the blog. I’m a big True Crime fan and into everything from missing people to serial killers etc. I really want to cover True Crime on the blog so I’m going to see how this post goes. True Crime is a big topic at the minute and I want to use my platform for good as you never know who’s going to see these posts and they may have answer. These are Missing People Facts and Statistics.

Facts

1. Did you know in the United States, a child goes missing every 40 seconds.
2. In the United States, more than 800,000 children go missing every year.
3. 2,300 Americans are reported missing every single day.
4. There is no Federal mandate that requires law enforcement to wait 24 hours before accepting a report of a missing person.
5. The first 12-24 hours is the most important time once a person goes missing.

Statistics

As of 31st of December 2021, the NCIC contained 93,718 active cases of missing people. People under the age of 18 account for 30,400 (32%) and 39,114 (42%) are people under the age of 21.

During the year 2021, 521,705 missing person records were entered into the NCIC. Missing people records purged 485,082 during the same time period. The reasons for these cases being removed are: a law enforcement agency located the person, the individual returned home or the record is invalid.

2. Kara Vaughn – Found Deceased.
   • 40 years old.
   • Missing: 3rd November 1993.
   • Found: 24th March 2021.
   • Cause of Death: Drowning.
3. Sarah Everard – Found Deceased.
   • 33 years old.
   • Missing: March 3rd 2021.
   • Found: 10th March 2021.
   • Cause of Death: Strangulation and Burning (Murder).
4. Louis Nix III – Found Deceased.
   • 29 years old.
   • Missing: 24th February 2021.
   • Found: 27th February 2021.
   • Cause of Death: Drowning (Possible Murder).
5. Naya Rivera – Found Deceased.
   • 33 years old.
   • Missing Since: 8th July 2021.
   • Found: 13th of July 2021.

5 Cases Solved in 2022

Brittanee Drexel

Brittanee went missing on 25th April 2009 while on spring break in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina after sneaking away for spring break. She was 17 years old at the time of her disappearance. Her remains was found on the 11th of May 2022 in Georgetown, South Carolina. She was abducted, raped and murdered by a registered Sex offender. Her murder was sentenced to life in prison plus thirty years for the rape and kidnapping charge.

Diwen Fan

Diwen Fan was 20 years old when he was reported missing. He was last seen on the 5th of May 2022 in Chicago, Illinois. He was found safe after two months of searching and reunited with his family.

Jordan Simeon

Jordan was 25 years old when he went missing on the 7th of March 2022 in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He disappeared while on a road trip from Fargo, North Dakota to New Orleans, Louisiana. His body was found on the 27th April 2022 in Newtown Creek on the I-40 at White Oak Crossing. Police are still investigating.

Alicia Kenny

Alicia Kenny went missing on the 11th of June 2022 in Loveland, Ohio. She was 23 years old. On the 15th of June 2022, she was found safe after needing a couple of days to clear her head.

Baby Holly

After four decades, baby holly was found alive in early 2022. She went missing following the murder of her parents back in 1981.
