Hey, my lovelies! We all know Christmas is a big thing in many people lives for either religious reasons or just people who like to celebrate the holiday! Christmas has a lot of history and I’m here to bring you some facts about it. This is 12 Facts of Christmas. You will have to let me know If you knew any of these facts.

Christmas Wasn’t Always On The 25th

We all know Christmas is the celebration of Jesus Christ being born but the actual date of his birth has never been known or found. A lot of historians have said that it is most likely Jesus was born in Spring rather than Winter.

Gifts comes from Pagans and Christians

We all know Christians are brought up in believing gifts are to copy the presents that the Three Wise Men brought to the birth of Baby Jesus. The Pagan’s originally gave they’re offerings to the gods, too.

Stockings Started by Accident

People say, we hang stockings by or on the chimney with care because a poor man who didn’t have enough money for his daughters doweries. It is said that Saint Nicolas dropped a bag of gold down their chimney one night, after the girls hung up their freshly washed stockings. The gold ended up in their stockings and that where the tradition started.

Candy Canes

Candy Canes were invented in Germany. It was made into the J shape for Jesus and, the red and white stripes is to symbolize his blood.

American Eggnog

Did you know the first batch of American Eggnog was made in the Jamestown Settlement in 1607. The name “Eggnog” comes from the word “grog”, which means any drink made with rum. You can also get Non Alcoholic Eggnog also.

Christmas Wreaths and Tinsel

Christmas Wreaths: was originally hung up as a symbol of Jesus. The holly on the wreath represents his crown of thorns and the red berries is for the blood he shed.

Tinsel: was invented in Germany in 1610. It was once made of real silver.

Jingle Bells

Jingle Bells the song, was composed by James Pierpoint in Massachusetts, United States of America. It was originally written for Thanksgiving, not Christmas.

Coca-Cola

Coca-Cola was the first company to use Santa Claus during the Winter Season for advertising.

Christmas Trees

Christmas Trees were originally decorated with fruit which consisted of manly apples. Later on, people started to use candles and then electric lights in 1985, to decorate the trees.

Tallest Living Christmas Tree

The tallest living Christmas tree is believed to be about 122 feet and 91 years old. It’s a Douglas Fir which is in Woodville, Washington.
